Manufacturing Engineer – Montpelier, OH – APQP, IATF 16949, and Process Improvement

Our client, an industrial manufacturer, is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to plan, direct, and coordinate manufacturing processes in an industrial plant environment. This is a direct-hire, on-site role based in Montpelier, Ohio.

You will own the development, documentation, and continuous improvement of manufacturing methods while ensuring compliance with APQP and IATF 16949 standards. Working closely with planning, design, quality, and production teams, you will drive efficiency, cost reduction, and technical excellence on the shop floor.

What you'll do

• Develop, evaluate, document, and improve manufacturing methods, analyzing workforce utilization, space requirements, and workflow to design efficient equipment and workspace layouts.
• Follow the APQP process and ensure compliance with IATF 16949, preparing and maintaining PFMEA documentation as required.
• Confer with vendors on product specifications, equipment and material purchases, and evaluate products against quality standards; select suppliers for gages, cutting tools.
• Estimate production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to inform management decisions, applying statistical methods to forecast manufacturing requirements.
• Design and specify gaging, cutting tools, machine tools, fixtures, and related accessories; establish tooling specifications and expected tool life.
• Develop costing procedures and cost reduction programs using conventional industrial engineering methods, and establish new manufacturing processes leveraging current technology.

What you'll bring

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 3+ years of manufacturing engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
• No sponsorship is available.

Nice to have

• Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma experience.
• Machine tool specification and gaging design.
