Senior Data Scientist – Load & Renewable Generation Forecasting

Our client is seeking a Senior Data Scientist focused on load and renewable generation forecasting to join their team in Juno Beach, FL. This is a W2 contract opportunity for an experienced data scientist who is passionate about applying advanced analytics to the energy sector.

What you'll do

• Develop and maintain forecasting models for electricity load and renewable generation using Python, pandas, and scikit-learn.
• Build and tune gradient boosting models with LightGBM and XGBoost to improve forecast accuracy.
• Apply time-series forecasting and probabilistic forecasting techniques to quantify uncertainty and support operational decision-making.
• Query and prepare large datasets using SQL, and leverage AWS-based infrastructure for model development and deployment.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into robust analytical solutions.
• Communicate forecast results and model insights to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

What you'll bring

• Professional experience as a data scientist or in a closely related analytical role.
• Strong proficiency in Python, including pandas and scikit-learn.
• Hands-on experience with gradient boosting frameworks such as LightGBM and XGBoost.
• Demonstrated experience with time-series forecasting and probabilistic forecasting methods.
• Proficiency in SQL for data extraction and manipulation.
